Bufflehead Duck House

Offer bufflehead ducks a safe and comfortable dwelling with the Coveside Bufflehead Duck House. These small but striking ducks feature dark colored heads with arresting white patches on the sides to set them apart as they seek shelter in this fantastic pine habitat. Cavity nesting ducks are frequently dependent on manmade housing for their roost, as they are unable to form cavities in trees like similar birds. This home, with its natural complexion and solid construction, offers an ideal respite for buffleheads in need of a safe home. A 3.5" wide and 3" tall entryway lets these waterfowl access this helpful house while deterring larger predators, and a downward slanting roof overhangs the rest of the unit to prevent rain from penetrating the home. Generous ventilation slots on either side of the roof assist in maintaining a comfortable internal temperature, while angled corners on the base panel allow thorough drainage. The lack of a perch helps stop predators from reaching the eggs within the dwelling, and a small, black ladder situated near the entrance hole inside the unit aids nestlings as they exit the house. An included bag of wood chips gives the birds nesting material to help establish a well functioning roost. One side panel lifts easily upward for cleaning and nest checks, and a small metal latch in the corner keeps the home securely closed. The 0.75" thick wood helps insulate the home, and the light color of the unfinished, timeworn, New England pine keeps it cool during hotter summer months. The quaint pine will age to a graceful gray hue over the course of time and with exposure to the elements, giving you variable beauty to enjoy as you give these ducks a home. A metal loop hanger at the top rear of the item encourages simple post or tree mounting for you to easily showcase this standout piece.
