Couyon Flats

Sometimes the simplest flies fool the smartest fish. The Couyon Flats was designed to imitate the translucent shrimp and small crustaceans that bonefish feed on every day. Built around a sparse profile and lightweight construction, it lands softly, moves naturally, and disappears into the flat exactly the way real prey does. Hand tied by FINATICS Fly Company, the Couyon Flats is built using FINATICS Couyon Dubbing, creating a buggy, semi-translucent body that comes alive underwater. Long synthetic fibers and subtle flash add just enough attraction without overpowering the fly, while flexible rubber legs continue to move even when the fly is resting on the bottom. Tied on the trusted Gamakatsu SL45 Bonefish Hook with lightweight bead chain eyes, the Couyon Flats is designed for shallow water where quiet presentations matter most. The sparse construction allows the fly to sink naturally while maintaining a lifelike profile that appeals to pressured fish. Whether you're stalking bonefish across the Bahamas, Belize, Mexico, the Florida Keys, Cuba, Christmas Island, or the Seychelles, the Couyon Flats delivers the natural presentation needed to fool fish that inspect every meal before committing. Available in Tan and Olive in #4 and #6, the Couyon Flats is an excellent choice for anglers looking for a dependable shrimp pattern for tropical flats fishing.
