Course 5: Proprioceptive Taping & Biomechanical Support

This advanced-level course explores the integration of proprioceptive science, biomechanical taping, and functional movement strategies to support rehabilitation and performance outcomes in clinical practice. Clinicians will gain a deeper understanding of how sensorimotor systems contribute to joint stability, coordination, and injury maintenance, and how kinesiology taping techniques can be applied to regulate neuromuscular control. Through a review of current literature, hands-on applications, and case-based examples, this course provides practical insights into the role of cutaneous feedback, kinetic chain mechanics, and combined taping interventions. Special considerations for hypermobility syndromes and postural dysfunction are included, along with biomechanical taping concepts such as McConnell-Style and Mulligan-Style techniques. Key Takeaways: Understand the foundational mechanisms of proprioception and sensorimotor integration Evaluate the evidence supporting cutaneous stimulation via taping to improve joint awareness Learn biomechanical taping applications for the knee, shoulder, and spine Apply taping strategies in the context of hEDS, lower extremity valgus, and kinetic chain dysfunction Incorporate functional assessments and taping as part of a comprehensive care plan This course is designed for rehabilitation professionals looking to advance their clinical reasoning and refine taping strategies for patient populations with complex neuromuscular or biomechanical presentations. Upon completion, learners will earn 2.00 Continuing Education Credit and gain valuable skills to integrate into their professional practice.   This is course 5 of a 5-part series about kinesiology taping and its uses within the professional environment.   INSTRUCTOR KT Tape worked in close collaboration with Dr. Chris Harper, PT, DPT, OCS, to develop our virtual Continuing Education course series. A practicing clinician, educator, and longtime KT Health Medical Advisory Board member, Dr. Harper has integrated kinesiology taping into his treatment approach for over 20 years. He played a key role in developing KT Tape’s original library of taping techniques for common pain points across the body, helping to establish the foundation of KT’s taping methodology. His deep understanding of biomechanics, neurological processes, and taping applications has shaped the course content to reflect evidence-based strategies that elevate both clinical outcomes and confidence in practice.
