Cotton Thread Set - Purples! For Quilting and Sewing - 8 Spools, 4 Colors, 180 Yards Each

The Madam Sew, Purples, Cotton Thread Set consists of four thread colors, two spools each, in the green family. Perfect for floral, Easter, Spring, Halloween and baby or children related fabrics and projects. The thread is made of 100% long-staple, mercerized cotton. What this means is that you’ll get less lint and fuzz building up at your needle and therefore less thread breakage. Because it is cotton thread, it won’t be overly shiny and you’ll also be able to use it for any application where the end project will go in a microwave, like a Bowl Cozy or Potato Sack. Are you looking for a thread that will add depth, texture, dimension and pop to your quilt top? Then this thread set is a must to try. The 50s/3 thread is made of three plies making it thicker than standard, 2-ply 50wt threads so it won’t melt into the background. Instead, your quilting will have an opportunity to shine and your project will be strong enough to hold up to repeated washing or wear.  If you sew and want the feel of cotton or a thread that helps your decorative stitches stand out, try this set in your next project. It’s also nice for topstitching too!. Purples not what you are looking for? Or do you need other colors too? Colors: The below picture shows the colors of the thread spools in this set. Please be aware that there may be a little variance from the actual colors based on your monitor or phone.  Weight: Our thread is a 50s/3 thread, which means there are three plies twisted together to make the thread. Instructions & More Use a 90/14 - 100/16 universal needle. We tested this thread with the 90/14 universal sewing machine needle and it worked fine. It’s always best to test on a two piece swatch to see how it sews. If it doesn’t run through smoothly, switch up to a higher needle size. If you are looking for a comparison between our thread and some other familiar threads, we’ve done a little quilting and sewing comparison for you in the pictures below. We used Guttermann (3-ply), Ours (3-ply) and Aurifil (2-ply) for these. Guide: 1= Guttermann, 2 = Our Thread, 3 = Aurifil Quilt Sandwich Sample:  Sewing Sample: Learn about thread weights and what different weight threads are used for in quilting by reading our blog: Quilter’s Guide to Thread Weights. You’ll find that weight measurements aren’t that easy to understand and the numbers you see might not help as much as we would like them to.
