Cornus Kousa (Japanese Dogwood)

Kousa dogwood is a deciduous ornamental tree prized for its distinctive four-petaled white bracts that bloom in late spring, creating an elegant layered appearance. Native to East Asia, this species matures to 30 feet with a graceful, spreading form. The foliage transitions to deep burgundy in fall, while summer fruit develops into raspberry-like drupes that attract wildlife. Kousa dogwood demonstrates superior disease resistance compared to native dogwoods and adapts well to various soil conditions. It thrives in partial shade to full sun and requires moderate moisture during establishment. An excellent choice for specimen planting or woodland gardens.
