Coq Au Vin - Instant pot or Slow Cooker

Most Americans first heard of Coq Au Vin (literally “rooster in wine”) from Julia Child however the history of Coq Au Vin is long and storied. King Henry IV proclaimed "a chicken in every pot" as he sought to improve the lives of all his subjects.  Coq Au Vin is associated with the idea behind the quote - that no matter how poor everyone should be able to eat chicken at least once a week. Coq Au Vin is basically chicken on the bone braised in wine, covered and cooked low and slow. That's basically how peasants ate economically. They took what they had on hand, browned it in fat, added chicken on the bone, vegetables and wine and covered it to cook. Bonus is this is one of the healthiest ways to cook. Our Coq Au Vin is based on Julia Child's recipe and offers step by step directions. It's quite easy to make and one of the most delicious dishes you can make in your slow cooker. You can also use our Coq Au Vin seasoning to make it on the stove top, just reduce the cooking time. Recipe included for the instant pot and slow cooker (crock pot). We hope you will try it and love it. Yum
