Navajo Horsehair Etched Pottery by Navajo Artist Manuel Brieno III Approx. 6"H x 4"W Horsehair Pottery:  Navajo horsehair pottery has been an essential part of Navajo culture for centuries. Originally created for practical uses like carrying water and storing food, it has evolved into a unique art form. In Navajo horsehair pottery, artists place horse mane and tail hair onto the clay, then fire it in a kiln. The fine lines come from the mane, while the thicker lines are made from the tail. Once fired, the pottery becomes smooth and shiny, making each piece one-of-a-kind. While these pieces were once functional, they are now cherished as decorative art. Please note that each pottery piece is handmade, so it may vary slightly from the image shown. Horsehair Etched Pottery:  Navajo horsehair etched pottery combines the beauty of horsehair designs with traditional Navajo etchings. After adding horse mane and tail hair to the pottery, skilled artists etch detailed, intricate patterns into the surface. This unique technique makes the pottery stand out as both a work of art and a cultural treasure. Highly collectible, Navajo horsehair etched pottery remains a popular choice for collectors due to its artistic detail and cultural significance.
