Copper Killer-Beadhead

There is no doubt that the Copper John is one of the most successful nymphing patterns out there. However, there is one huge problem with successful patterns, everyone (and we mean everyone) has them in their fly box and is fishing them. While this might not be an issue early in the year, when fish are warming up and biting at anything that resembles a food source, it can be an issue later in the year when they start wising up a bit. The Copper Killer is here to help counteract that and increase your catch rate. Flies don’t always need a huge make over to make them stick out from the rest and we think this fly does just that. he addition of numerous (4 on each side to be exact) black rubber legs helps set this pattern apart from the rest. While adding enough subtle difference and attraction in the legs to entice a strike. Our suggestion if your fishing a run early this season and are hooking fish after fish on a Copper John, try tying on a Copper Killer, if the fish are still hitting but this guy in your box until the fall. Once your fish have gained some catch and release wisdom, tie this guy back on and enjoy catching fish.
