Original artwork by Jo Hay Created with oil on canvas, ready to hang Artwork measures 36 x 48 inches Ships from Charleston, SC In Heavenly Creatures, British painter Jo Hay departs from her renowned figurative portraits to explore a world of expressive, symbol-laden rabbits. First imagined as an experiment in form and anatomy, these paintings have evolved into vibrant, character-driven portraits—each rabbit brimming with personality and movement. Named after astronomers, galaxies, and constellations, these “creatures” embody alertness, energy, and transformation. Hay’s dynamic brushwork and bold, primary-based palette create a symphony of color and motion, bringing each figure to life in an almost alchemical way—poised somewhere between realism and the cosmos.
