Coppernose Bluegill

The coppernose bluegill is one of the most sought-after sunfish for private pond and lake stocking. Named for its distinctive copper-bronze sheen across the snout and gill plate, this striking native species is as beautiful as it is functional. Fast-growing, prolific, and resilient, copper nose bluegill thrive in a wide range of water conditions and form the backbone of a healthy bass-forage ecosystem. Whether you're establishing a new pond, restocking an existing body of water, or building a forage base for trophy largemouth bass, coppernose bluegill are an excellent choice. They feed aggressively on insects, invertebrates, and supplemental pellet feed making them easy to manage and fun to catch on their own.
