Cooks Extra Dry 4Pk 187ML

Cooks Extra Dry 4 Pack 187ML is a Charmat-method California sparkling wine made from Chardonnay, bottled at 11.5% ABV in four individual 187ml splits. This expression earned 86 points from Tastings.com, and Cook's holds a distinctive place in American sparkling wine history as one of the few producers grandfathered into using the term "Champagne" on its label following the 2005 agreement with France. Quick Facts: ABV: 11.5%  |  Origin: California, United States  |  Style: Extra Dry Sparkling Wine  |  Producer: Cook's (Constellation Brands) Production & Heritage Cook's is produced using the Charmat method, in which secondary fermentation takes place in large pressurized tanks rather than individual bottles, yielding a lighter, fruit-forward style of sparkling wine. The base wine is made from Chardonnay grapes sourced from California vineyards. Cook's operates under Constellation Brands and is notable as one of the earliest producers of what was historically marketed as "American Champagne" — a designation it was permitted to retain when French and American regulators reached an agreement in 2005 to phase out the use of the term on most domestic labels. Tasting Notes Aroma: Light straw-colored in the glass with a gentle stream of fine bubbles. The nose opens with fresh pear and apple, followed by mild floral nuances and a backdrop of toasty yeast character. Taste: The palate enters with crisp, semi-dry fruit — green apple and ripe pear are most prominent at the mid-palate. A subtle citrus brightness adds lift, while understated yeast and floral complexity emerge as the wine opens up. The overall impression is clean and moderately dry with enough residual sweetness to justify the "Extra Dry" designation. Finish: The finish is smooth and surprisingly long for its price tier, with lingering pear and a whisper of toast. Effervescence remains gentle throughout, keeping the close refreshing rather than sharp. How to Drink Cook's Extra Dry The 187ml format is designed for single-serve convenience — pour straight into a flute or coupe without needing to commit to a full bottle. Its semi-dry profile and bright acidity also make it a reliable sparkling wine base for cocktails. A Classic Mimosa works naturally here, as the pear and apple notes complement fresh orange juice without competing. A French 75 benefits from the wine's clean finish and gentle effervescence alongside gin and lemon. For something simple, a Kir Royale with a splash of crème de cassis rounds out the residual sweetness into a richer aperitif. Best For Brunch gatherings where individual pours eliminate the need for bottle service Picnics, outdoor events, or concerts where portability matters Stocking a mimosa bar at showers or casual celebrations Keeping on hand in the refrigerator for spontaneous toasts Frequently Asked Questions What does Cook's Extra Dry taste like?
