Contours

Contours is every golf-lover’s essential guide, delving deep into golf course architecture, exploring the minds behind the designs, the processes that bring courses to life, and the elements that make some destinations truly special. From the Sandbelt of Melbourne to the Heathlands of London, and the rugged coastlines of Oregon to the manicured perfection of Te Arai Links, this book takes readers on a global journey through golf's most significant landscapes.   Modern courses are built on the shoulders of the golf course design giants of the 1920s and the current crop – Tom Doak, Bill Coore, Mike Cocking and others – speak reverentially about these golden age architects, and still practice their methods today. This book compares and contrasts the two golden ages, visiting and exploring the greatest courses from both eras and exploring how the evolution of the game is built into the ground it is played on.  Contours is for golfers far and wide who value the beauty, excitement and the challenges each golf course presents – and who love the game.
