Continuous Kombucha Brewing Jar

Brew endless kombucha without ever needing to disturb your SCOBY. The Cultures For Health 5-liter Continuous Kombucha Brewing Jar features a specially designed breathable stainless steel mesh top, and a stainless steel spigot that allows you to better preserve your SCOBY for the long term by removing the need to tilt your jar. This simple solution is durable and easy to clean.  *Some assembly required.   ASSEMBLING CONTINUOUS BREW JAR 1. Unscrew the nut from the back of the spigot. 2. Place silver washer onto the spigot followed by the rubber grommet. These 2 pieces should align flush against the front of the spigot. 3. Insert the spigot into the hole of the jar. 4. From the inside of the jar, place second rubber grommet and silver washer onto the spigot. If done correctly both of your rubber grommets should be flush against the glass. 5. Take the nut and screw it back onto the spigot from the inside of the jar so that it sits flush with the silver washer. 6. Tighten your assembly by holding the nut and rotating the spigot until it no longer tightens. 7. Sanitize your jar by rinsing it out with soap and water to avoid contamination in future brews. HOW TO BREW KOMBUCHA IN YOUR JAR Prep the container for brewing by rinsing it with warm water and mild soap, be sure to avoid antibacterial soap. (Tip: You can also rinse it with distilled white vinegar) After washing brew jar don't forget to let it dry! Prepare the starter tea mixture in a separate container. Let the tea cool to room temperature and pour it into the brewing container. You’ll need to leave enough space to add starter tea and the SCOBY. Add the starter tea and SCOBY Cover with the lid and mark the date down. Let culture at 68-85°F, out of direct sunlight, for 7-30 days, or to taste. (The longer the kombucha ferments, the less sweet and more vinegary it will taste.) Drain kombucha out of the spigot as you want to drink it throughout the week, then add more tea at the end of the week OR remove and bottle all but 20% of kombucha at once, then add new sweet tea when you are ready to start brewing again. HOW TO CLEAN AND STERILIZE YOUR CONTINUOUS BREW JAR DO NOT use boiling water or very hot water and DO NOT put in the dishwasher. Start by rinsing the inside of your Crock or Jar with lukewarm water from the tap. Add in a bit of distilled white vinegar and shake so the vinegar gets all over the inner wall of the Crock or Jar. Turn the Crock or Jar upside down above the sink to get rid of any excess vinegar. You do not need to rinse the remaining vinegar off as it promotes the growth of good bacteria. Should you need to clean the outside of the Crock or Jar, use a damp piece of cloth or paper towel.
