Contender Peach

If you are looking for a peach that ticks all the boxes, Contender is ideal. It is disease-resistant and cold-hardy. Contender grows in many different climates, self-pollinates, and produces an abundance of medium to large juicy fruit – everything you need a peach to be. On top of that, it has the most beautiful pink blossoms in spring, and changes foliage color from dark green to deep yellow in the autumn. As a bonus, Contender has luscious, juicy fruit in the summer. The peach flesh is bright yellow, firm, and delicious, eaten fresh or preserved for out-of-season treats and baked goods. All peach varieties are grafted on Bailey rootstock. Early spring freezes are often an issue for peaches. Bailey is a medium sized stock with high cold tolerance.
