Designed for busy laundry environments, this visual guide reinforces practical techniques for lifting, moving, pushing, and handling laundry loads and equipment. The poster presents eight easy-to-reference ergonomic and material-handling practices, including planning a lift, positioning the body close to the load, using the legs, avoiding twisting, using carts and handling equipment, pushing safely, reducing repetitive strain, and asking for assistance when needed. 8 Ergonomics & Safe Lifting Reminders Plan the Lift — Consider the load, weight, size, destination, and travel path before lifting. Get Close to the Load — Position yourself close to laundry bags, baskets, boxes, or supplies before lifting. Lift With Your Legs — Use a stable stance, bend at the hips and knees, and keep the load close to your body. Avoid Twisting — Move your feet and turn your whole body instead of twisting while carrying a load. Use Carts & Material-Handling Equipment — Use appropriate equipment for heavy, bulky, or repetitive loads. Push Safely — Push carts when practical, maintain visibility, and avoid overloading. Reduce Repetitive Strain — Arrange tasks to limit excessive reaching, bending, and awkward postures. Ask for Help — Use team lifting or appropriate mechanical assistance when a load is difficult to handle safely.
