Comfrey Leaf, Cut, Sifted

Comfrey leaf, also known as Symphytum officinale, is a plant native to Europe that is well known for its medicinal uses for centuries. Comfrey leaf has been used in skin care products due to its moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. It may help soothe and protect dry or irritated skin. Comfrey leaf contains allantoin, a compound that is believed to stimulate the growth of new cells and help promote wound healing. It has been used topically to treat minor cuts, burns, and bruises. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, comfrey leaf poultices may help reduce swelling and pain associated with conditions such as arthritis, back pain, and sprains. Ingested in small quantities as an herbal tea or tincture, comfrey leaf has been used to treat respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, coughs, and asthma due to its expectorant properties, which help loosen and expel mucus from the lungs. It may also help soothe digestive issues such as stomach ulcers, indigestion, and diarrhea. While comfrey leaf is generally considered safe when used topically, it should not be used on broken skin. Additionally, it contains compounds that may be toxic to the liver when ingested in large amounts. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should also avoid using comfrey leaf.
