Comedy Breakaway Tray

The Breakaway Tray has been a classic comedy prop for magicians for generations and our version is made for maximum durability and audience impact. The effect is simple--the magician hands the volunteer a "valuable antique" tray that instantly falls to pieces the moment it's in the volunteer's hands. We start with a sturdy Baltic Birch frame, and four individual pieces of quarter inch birch which make the floor of the tray are designed to come apart and fall to the floor with a wonderful sound that amplifies the effect. To make the tray look even more convincing, we fit the top of the tray with a fabric placemat which completely sells the fact that it's a normal looking object. Takes seconds to reset. Finished in four coats of a beautiful hammered bronze textured paint, it looks like an expensive antique from just a few feet away. Available in two sizes: 10 x 12 inches (weight 1.1 lbs) and 12 x 15 inches (weight 1.6 lbs)
