Come And Take It Flag (Gonzales Banner of 1835) | 3' x 5' Nylon

excerpt from the Come And Take It wikipedia page] The first land battle of the Texas Revolution against Mexico—a small group of Texans successfully resisted the Mexican forces who had orders from Colonel Domingo de Ugartechea to seize their cannon. As a symbol of defiance, the Texans had fashioned a flag containing the phrase "come and take it" (Spanish: Ven y tómalo) along with a black star and an image of the cannon that they had received four years earlier from Mexican officials. This was the same message that was sent to the Mexican government when they told the Texans to return the cannon; lack of compliance with the initial demands led to the failed attempt by the Mexican military to forcefully take back the cannon.   Specifications Sewn Stripes, Embroidered Stars Brass Grommets Fast Drying 200-denier nylon Treated to resist fading Finished with a white poly-cotton header Made in the USA  American Flag Size to Pole Length: Flagpole Length Maximum Flag Size 20'   3' x 5' 25' 4' x 6' 30' 5' x 8' 35' 6' x 10' 40' 8' x 12' 50' 10' x 15' 60' 12' x 18' 70' 15' x 25' 80' 20' x 30'   The “Flag Code” includes instruction and rules on such topics as the display and use of the flag by civilians, time and occasions for display, position and manner of display, and how to show respect for the American flag.  Notes for flag care: Exposing your flag to rain, wind, snow or high winds will shorten the life of your flag considerably. The Battle of Gonzales centered on American colonists in that town who were refusing to give back a cannon (the one on the flag) back to Mexican soldiers that they had received in 1831 to fend off Natives in the area. They wanted it now to defend themselves from Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna's increasingly aggressive actions against the colonists. As the Texas State Historical Association notes, the battle was actually more of skirmish. But it did mark a definitive break in relations between the Mexicans and the colonists. Less than a year later Texas would be its own republic. "Come and Take It" also was used in the American Revolution when Col. John McIntosh told British brass the same thing as they attempted to overtake Fort Morris in Georgia on November 25, 1778. The fort would later fall but the fight would motivate thousands to come.
