Column Table Lamp

The Audo Copenhagen Column Table Lamp takes inspiration from maritime bollards - those sturdy posts used to secure vessels to jetties - and transforms that functional form into portable lighting with striking mushroom-shaped silhouette. Designed by Norm Architects, this cordless lamp combines technology and mood-setting style in a compact design that embodies freedom of movement. At 120mm diameter and 175mm height (approximately 4.7 inches by 6.9 inches), the lamp delivers surprising presence without taking up much surface space. The sculptural cylindrical base topped with that distinctive mushroom head creates interesting shadow play and catches light beautifully as a design object even when turned off. What makes this lamp genuinely practical is the built-in rechargeable battery that provides 7 hours of light at full brightness, 13 hours at 50%, or 18 hours at 25% - giving you real flexibility for extended outdoor dinners, reading sessions, or ambient lighting throughout the evening. The three-step dimmer button cleverly concealed at the base lets you adjust brightness to match the mood without fumbling with apps or separate controls. The cordless design charges via a concealed USB socket at the base using the included magnetic connector, taking approximately 6.5 hours to reach full charge. It's also compatible with Audo Copenhagen's Charging Board if you want to power multiple devices simultaneously. Available in bronzed anodized aluminum or brushed aluminum finishes, both options feel lightweight yet durable at just 1.3 pounds - easy to carry from room to room or outside to the terrace without feeling flimsy or cheap. The IP44 rating means it handles moisture and outdoor conditions confidently, so you're not constantly worried about leaving it outside during dinner or moving it quickly if weather changes. The built-in LED provides warm 2700K light at 250 lumens with CRI over 80, creating that inviting glow that actually makes spaces feel comfortable rather than harsh or clinical. What's smart about the Column Lamp is how it works across different settings - coffee tables, bedside tables, outdoor dining, hotel lobbies, restaurant tables replacing candles - bringing ambient lighting wherever you need it without dealing with cords or finding outlets. Audo Copenhagen collaborated with Norm Architects on the Column Lamp as part of their broader portable lighting collection that addresses modern needs for flexible, cordless illumination. Founded in Copenhagen in 2008 by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Rønn, Norm Architects specializes in creating designs that unite materials and craftsmanship while embodying timeless Scandinavian simplicity. Bjerre-Poulsen focuses on shape and tactility while Rønn concentrates on technology and inventions, bringing complementary strengths that show in how the Column Lamp balances sculptural beauty with practical functionality. Their emphasis on drawing inspiration from norms and traditions in architecture and design - particularly Scandinavian ideology around natural materials and Modernist restraint - results in lighting that feels both contemporary and rooted in craft heritage. The Column Lamp reflects Audo Copenhagen's "soft minimalism" philosophy through clean cylindrical forms and subdued finishes that enhance spaces without demanding attention, while the portable battery-powered design addresses contemporary living where flexibility matters as much as aesthetics.
