Coltrane Philly 1957 Black Tee

“My music is the spiritual expression of what I am – my faith, my knowledge, my being.” Throwback to the year 1957. That’s when Philly’s own John Coltrane did his famous residency at the famed Five Spot at Cooper Square with the Thelonious Monk quartet, harnessing a style that would evolve into his signature sound. In September of that year, as he recorded his Blue Train at Rudy Van Gelder’s studio in Hackensack, New Jersey, the roots of his genius were clear. 'Trane' wasn’t merely a god-like jazzman. He was an everlasting movement – the foundation for which American music took root. Officially licensed by John Coltrane.
