Colossus Magnolia

The Colossus Magnolia offers impressive flower size, dependable heat tolerance and striking foliage, making it an excellent choice for gardeners seeking a magnolia that performs beautifully when contrasted with other magnolias available. Its semi-double, 4–6" white blooms feature rich pink-to-purple stamens that create vivid contrast against the crisp petals. With a naturally refined shape and extra-large glossy leaves, Colossus brings both tropical flair and woodland charm to the landscape. Showy Blooms with Strong Visual Contrast: Each flower features pure white, semi-double petals surrounding a crown of deep rose-purple stamens. This contrast gives every bloom clarity and depth, easy to appreciate even from a distance. The flowers also carry a pleasant fragrance, adding another layer of sensory appeal throughout the bloom period. Heat Tolerance with Woodland Garden Appeal: More versatile than the straight species, Colossus can tolerate sun and heat. Its adaptability makes it particularly valuable in woodland gardens, mixed borders and lightly shaded foundation plantings. In warmer regions, afternoon shade helps maintain ideal flowering and foliage quality. Bold Foliage and Reliable Growth: The oversized, glossy green leaves provide season-long presence, giving the tree a lush, tropical look even when it’s not in bloom. Its steady, upright habit makes it easy to integrate into existing landscapes, and its manageable size suits both small yards and larger garden designs.
