Frequently Asked Questions What is a color ring, and why does it matter more than a photo? A color ring is a set of real hair swatches you hold up against your client's hair in the room they're sitting in — not a screen with inconsistent lighting and color calibration. It's the difference between guessing and knowing before you place the order. Why do stylists use a physical color ring instead of matching from photos? Screens render color differently depending on the device, and lighting shifts a shade's undertone more than most people expect. A physical swatch removes that variable entirely, so the color you match in the salon is the color that shows up in the box. Can I buy a color ring separately from extensions? Yes. It's built to be a standalone tool for salons and stylists who want to order extensions with confidence, every time — not just on your first order. Is the KmXtend Color Ring made with real hair? Yes. All 36 swatches use the same 100% human hair as our extension lines, so what you see and feel in the ring is what your client will see and feel in the finished install. How many shades are included? 36 shades spanning solids, rooted, ombré, balayage, highlights, lowlights, and color melts — matched directly to KmXtend's active extension colorways.
