Colonel Firey Camellia

The Colonel Firey Camellia (Camellia japonica) is a classic cultivar celebrated for its exceptionally large, formal double blooms. Developing a compact, upright, and rounded growth habit, this evergreen shrub features lustrous, dark green foliage that provides a glossy backdrop for its vibrant, fiery red flowers throughout the winter and early spring months. First introduced in 1878, it has remained a landscape favorite for over a century due to its vigorous nature and dramatic floral display. It is highly versatile, performing well as a striking focal point, an elegant foundation plant, or a sophisticated addition to woodland and Asian-themed gardens.   Botanical Name   Camellia japonica 'Colonel Firey' Also Known As   Colonel Fiery | C.M.
