Coffee Bean Cardigan

August 2023 Update! Pattern has been revamped to have a smaller neckline. So if you see notes in projects about casting-on for a smaller size to achieve a smaller neck, this is no longer necessary with v3 of the pattern. To see if the copy you have is indeed v3, look at the last page of the PDF (in the bottom copyright area) and you’ll see a note about which version it is. Gauge: 18 sts & 26 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch Needles & Supplies: For Body: US 8/5 mm 32”/80 cm circ, or size needed to obtain gauge. For Sleeves: US 8/5 mm DPNs (or you can use 32” circ if magic looping), or size used to obtain gauge. For Neck, Hem & Buttonband Ribbing: US 7/4.5 mm 32”/80 cm circ, or 1 needle size smaller than that used to obtain gauge. For Sleeve Cuffs: US 7/4.5 mm DPNs (or you can use 32” circ if magic looping), or 1 needle size smaller than that used to obtain gauge. Stitch markers (including removable markers). Tapestry needle. Stitch holder or Scrap yarn. 6 buttons, approx 3/4”  Construction: Cardigan is knit seamlessly from the top-down. Stripes are created by carrying 2 colors of yarn and switching between them every 2 rows. After you knit the neck ribbing, markers are placed and raglan shaping is used to grow the yoke to the underarms. Sleeve stitches are split at the underarms and held on scrap yarn while the sweater body is worked down to the hem. Sleeve stitches are then transferred to DPNs (or long circ if doing magic loop), and worked in the round down to the cuff. Stitches are then picked up along each Front edge and worked in rib stitch to create the front buttonbands.
