Coffee BBQ Rub

Coffee BBQ Rub There is a reason professional pitmasters have been putting coffee on meat for generations — dark roasted coffee does something to beef and pork that nothing else can replicate. It builds a deeply savory, almost impossibly flavorful crust, enhances the natural richness of the meat without overpowering it, and adds a smoky complexity that makes every bite taste like it came off a competition BBQ smoker rather than a backyard grill. Our proprietary blend starts with bold dark roast coffee and smoked sea salt as its foundation, then layers in warm cinnamon, nutmeg, and sweet paprika to build a rounded, complex profile that is savory, smoky, and subtly sweet with just the gentlest whisper of heat. No single ingredient dominates — everything works together into something greater than the sum of its parts. The result is a rub so addictive that once you use it, plain seasoned meat feels like a missed opportunity. Use it dry for a classic bark forming crust, or mix with one of our EVOOs for a wet paste that penetrates deeper and creates an extraordinary caramelized exterior on anything it touches. Best on: Brisket — low and slow is where this rub truly becomes legendary Pork shoulder, pork ribs, or pulled pork Ribeye, New York strip, or beef tenderloin Pork chops or pork tenderloin Beef or pork burgers Smoked or roasted beef short ribs Bacon — yes, really. A light coating before cooking is extraordinary Try this wet rub: Mix generously with our Garlic Infused or Butter EVOO into a thick paste and apply to a pork shoulder the night before smoking or slow roasting. The coffee and smoked salt form an extraordinary bark while the EVOO keeps everything moist and deeply flavored throughout the cook. The ultimate pairing: Apply this rub to a brisket or rack of ribs, then finish with a drizzle of our Espresso Balsamic Vinegar right before serving. Coffee on coffee — bold, complex, and completely unforgettable. Two products, one extraordinary result. The Olive of Morganton proprietary blend. Savory, smoky, and subtly sweet. Use dry for maximum bark, wet for maximum penetration. Either way, competition worthy results.
