CoDrone EDU (JROTC edition)

Meet CoDrone EDU (JROTC edition) A Drone Made for Learning Ages: 12+ Programming languages: Blockly and Python What you'll learn: Drones, flight, accelerometers, gyroscopes, LEDs, color sensors, obstacle detection, sound, block coding, text-coding The CoDrone EDU (JROTC edition) is a programmable drone, meant for learning in the classroom. It's the JROTC edition of our flagship drone, the CoDrone EDU, created specifically for JROTC funding requirements requirements, which you can read more about here. Code it in Python or start from the basics with block-based coding. Unique to this drone are its color sensors, a front range sensor, a bottom range sensor, among others—all usable in code. With a durable and safe frame, programmable lights, and access to its 7 sensors, it's an excellent learning too and a great way to learn coding and engineering skills. What's Included: Each CoDrone EDU (JROTC ed.) kit includes: 1 CoDrone EDU (JROTC ed.) 1 Smart Controller (JROTC ed.) 3 rechargeable batteries 1 dual-battery charger 1 USB-C cable (to USB-A port) 1 set of extra propellers (2 clockwise, 2 counter-clockwise) 1 small screw driver and bolt 1 Quickstart Guide 1 set of labels for your drone and controller 8 color landing pads Why does the CoDrone EDU (JROTC edition) cost more than the CoDrone EDU? The CoDrone EDU (JROTC edition) is identical to the CoDrone EDU standard edition, except some of its internal components are sourced from different manufacturers in order to meet the funding requirements of JROTC. Some of these parts are higher in cost, so the price of the JROTC edition ends up being higher. In terms of the specifications and performance, they are identical. You can learn more about these requirements in our blog post. Is the CoDrone EDU (JROTC edition) a better drone than the CoDrone EDU? No, it's not a superior drone. The specifications between the two drones are identical. The only differences are in the sourcing of certain components inside of the drone to meet funding requirements of JROTC, and some minor design differences that don't affect drone performance. So Which CoDrone Should You Get? The short answer is: if you aren't JROTC, you can most likely get the standard edition of CoDrone EDU. Check out our blog post, for a more detailed comparison of the CoDrone EDU (JROTC ed.) to the CoDrone EDU. Minimum System Requirements If you're planning to use Blockly, make sure to check the minimum system requirements. Student:Device Ratio We recommend a 1:1 student to device ratio, and at most a 2:1 ratio. Free Curriculum Head over to Basecamp to see our free lessons.
