Cocobolo Turning Blanks

Straight from the production line, this selection of Cocobolo is the same turning stock used in the making of Blue Spruce tools. Having since retired Cocobolo from our permanent line, we’re making our remaining premium turning stock available to you at a great low price. We have a limited supply available—first come, first served! Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa) is one of the most sought-after species for turners. Its colors range from yellow, orange, red, and shades of brown with streaks of black or purple. Sapwood is typically a very pale yellow. Pen turners are notorious for wanting to try new and exotic woods for their pens, pencils and other small project kits. The challenge has been accessibility. Cocobolo is a sensitizer and can cause skin, eye and respiratory irritation. We recommend wearing dust masks while working with this species. Available blanks are shown in pairs to demonstrate variation—each piece is sold individually. The blanks are considered rough lumber and may contain surface checks and tear-out. These are not defects. All sizes are nominal, +/- 1/8”.  Wood is a natural product—color, figure, and grain pattern can vary wildy—no two pieces will be the same. All of our doweled stock is done in-house.  It is prepped for our lathe operation and may not be perfectly round.  It may have some flats and be rough from the doweling process.  This is not considered a defect. **Please note that due to current CITES regulations we are unable to ship African Blackwood, Cocobolo and other Rosewoods or dalbergia outside of the USA. Please do not order these options if your final shipping destination is not in the USA. Thank you for your understanding.
