The F-4C Phantom II is an American, two-seat, supersonic, long-range interceptor fighter jet, powered by two jet engines. Designed by McDonnell Aircraft for the United States Navy, it quickly gained recognition in the US Air Force and Marine Corps as well. Hero of the skies over Vietnam The F-4 Phantom II was one of the key aircraft during the Vietnam War. It entered combat operations in December 1964 with the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron ("Triple Nickel"). Initially, both seats in the cockpit were occupied by pilots, but later the rear pilot was replaced by a weapons systems officer. The Phantom was a versatile aircraft, it served as a fighter, tactical bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. It participated in many clashes with MiG aircraft, including the famous Operation Bolo. Despite advanced technology and high firepower, the F-4 suffered heavy losses, both from enemy aircraft and ground-based anti-aircraft defenses. The aircraft could carry over 8,400 kg of armament, and subsequent versions were increasingly better equipped: from radars and guided missiles to the M61 Vulcan cannon in later versions. Why build the F-4C Phantom II set from COBI? 1:48 scale - This scale provides the right balance between the level of detail and compact size, making the model look great both on a shelf and in a larger diorama. 730 elements - The bricks are made with attention to quality and precision. Each element helps to reproduce the characteristic shapes, proportions and unique structural details of the F-4 Phantom II aircraft from its service in Vietnam. Movable elements and full functionality - The model not only looks impressive but also offers a number of interactive features that increase the fun of building and playing: movable ailerons, retractable landing gear and an opening cockpit where simplified pilot figures can be placed. Easy and satisfying construction - The set includes clear, illustrated step-by-step instructions, which makes building the model pure pleasure. Realistic armament – The model has Mark 82 fragmentation bombs suspended on the pylons. These are very popular American, free-falling, general-purpose fragmentation bombs, which make the model look even more realistic. More "realistic" and impressive. Only printed elements - All markings on the model, such as tactical numbers and unit symbols, are printed directly onto the bricks. This ensures that the model looks great regardless of the intensity of use – the prints are durable, precise, and resistant to abrasion. Elegant display stand and collector's plaque - Designed with collectors in mind, the set includes a display stand that stably holds the model in an impressive position. It is complemented by an elegant plaque with the aircraft's name, scale and the American white star typical for marking combat aircraft, making this model ideal for display in a home collection or display case.
