Stacy Solodkin's latest body of work builds on the ancient tradition of combining fiber with clay, reinterpreted through porcelain reinforced with cotton linter. Solodkin leaves each sculpture unglazed, preserving the folds, fissures, and subtle variations created through making rather than concealing them. Each sculpture carries its own anthropomorphic identity and gesture. When brought together, they suggest a lineage of feminine presences united in the arc of becoming, as if in preparation for flight, inhabiting the irreversible threshold between what has been and what comes next. Solodkin’s work draws from her deep immersion into the natural world. Each form becomes a meditation on impermanence, resilience, and the quiet beauty held within every stage of becoming.
