Cattle Feeder | Closed Bottom Hay Max by Sioux Steel

Overview Closed Bottom Hay Max Feeder – The Ultimate Cattle Feeder for Reducing Waste Feed costs make up one of the largest ongoing expenses for ranchers and farmers. When hay ends up on the ground, trampled, or spoiled, that expense only grows. The Closed Bottom Hay Max Feeder was designed to eliminate those losses and keep every bale working harder for your herd. Unlike basic hay rings, this cattle feeder features a built-in cone insert that keeps bales centered and upright as cattle pull hay from the sides. The closed bottom captures hay that would normally drop through, preventing it from being wasted on the ground. With its 8′ diameter and 15 feed openings, the feeder provides plenty of access for multiple animals at once. Crowding is reduced, feeding is calmer, and cattle can all reach hay more easily. The feeder’s design makes it an ideal choice for ranchers managing larger herds that need consistent, efficient access to forage. Durability is another strength of this livestock feeder. Built with 1.5″ hi-tensile, 50,000 psi steel tubing, it’s strong enough to handle the daily wear of heavy cattle pushing against it. The powder-coated Prairie Gold finish protects it from rust and weather damage, ensuring that the feeder lasts season after season even in harsh outdoor conditions. Ranchers who invest in quality equipment like this know it pays for itself in long-term savings. The structure is stable and secure thanks to its cone brace and heavy base. When cattle lean into the feeder, the bale stays upright and balanced, preventing collapse and keeping hay accessible until the very end. This stability not only reduces waste but also makes feeding safer for animals. Smooth edges and slant bars allow cattle to feed without risk of cuts or injuries, while still controlling how hay is pulled from the bale. Ease of use matters on busy operations, and Sioux Steel delivers. The Closed Bottom Hay Max Feeder ships in three bolted sections with all hardware included, making it easy to transport, set up, or relocate between feeding areas. Whether you’re working in pastures, feedlots, or corrals, this feeder adapts to different setups without hassle. For ranchers looking to maximize efficiency, the ROI is undeniable. Many report that the feeder pays for itself in feed savings within a single season. By reducing hay waste, cutting down on refills, and keeping feed cleaner and more accessible, it quickly becomes one of the smartest investments you can make for your cattle operation. In short: the Closed Bottom Hay Max Feeder isn’t just another hay ring. It’s a tough, waste-reducing, and herd-friendly cattle feeder hay solution designed to save money, reduce labor, and protect feed quality while standing up to the toughest ranch conditions. NOTE: The use of the cone insert assembly is not recommend with any other feeder. The weight of the hay is entirely supported by the ground engaging center base of the cone insert assembly. The outer edge of the cone should not rest on the top tubes of the lower feeder assembly, as the feeder is not intended to support the weight of the hay. The chain connections and lateral support braces are to ensure the cone insert remains centered and to prevent tipping.
