Clear spikes are good for if you want to add LEDs to them. While these are made with a clear resin, there is a very slight possibility of tiny microbubbles in the resin. Barely noticeable, but sometimes it does happen, even though we vacuum our resin. Dark colors really are wasted on these spikess; if you are wanting a dark color you should look into the opaque spikes. So much dye has to be used to make dark colors, that they end up being more opaque anyway. And no light will diffuse through them.
