Scott's Fairy Wrasse - Fiji

Cirrhilabrus scottorum The Scott’s Fairy Wrasse is a peaceful, reef-safe species admired for its brilliant coloration and active, graceful swimming. Its slender body displays a dazzling blend of red, orange, yellow, and purple hues, highlighted by a distinctive red spot near the midsection and a black-edged dorsal fin, creating a vibrant, eye-catching display. In the wild, Scott’s Fairy Wrasses are typically found in outer reef slopes and channels around Fiji, at depths of 3–40 meters. They are often seen in small harems of females and juveniles, with males maintaining territories. They feed primarily on zooplankton, hovering above the substrate with agile, darting movements. In aquariums, they thrive in well-established reef tanks with ample live rock for shelter and perching. While generally peaceful, males can show mild territorial behavior toward other similarly colored fish. A secure lid is recommended, as they are excellent jumpers. Scott’s Fairy Wrasses accept a varied diet of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other finely chopped or enriched marine preparations. Frequent, small feedings help maintain their health and vivid coloration. Reaching about 6inches (13 cm) in length, the Scott’s Fairy Wrasse is a stunning and lively addition to reef aquariums, adding both striking color and natural, engaging behavior.
