Rootdown Series VI Frame

There isn’t much the Chromag Rootdown hasn’t done. Designed for all-around hardtail shredding in any trail condition, this cult-classic 29er combines premium materials, meticulous construction, and progressive geometry to deliver one of the most confidence-inspiring rides in mountain biking. Whether you’re hammering technical climbs, railing descents, or clocking endless trail miles, the Rootdown is ready to keep the stoke high and the ride smooth. The latest Series VI Rootdown evolves this proven platform with smart, rider-focused updates — including post mount brake tabs, a 73mm threaded bottom bracket, and a fully ED-coated frame for corrosion resistance inside and out. This is the Rootdown refined: cleaner, tougher, and more capable than ever. The Rootdown’s frame is crafted from high-grade 4130 chromoly steel, a material known for its strength, resilience, and unmatched ride quality. Chromium boosts hardenability and corrosion resistance. Molybdenum enhances toughness and vibration damping. The result? A hardtail that feels alive on the trail — compliant yet responsive, smooth yet strong. With its superior strength-to-weight ratio and high tensile durability, Chromag’s 4130 tubing handles big hits, long miles, and the rowdiest lines you can throw at it. Yes, steel adds a few grams, but it gives back in spades: unmatched longevity, a buttery ride feel, and a frame that’s built to last a lifetime.
