Chocolate Chip Ajuga Plant

Showy Purple Blooms You Can Walk On! The Chocolate Chip Ajuga gives you incredible color... perfect for those dull spots in your yard! This versatile and low-maintenance groundcover provides vibrant blooms with tons of unique color. It is very easy to care for and thrives in areas where other plants (even grass) struggle to survive. The Chocolate Chip Ajuga's evergreen foliage is attractive year-round, showing off a satin sheen finish embossed with rich hues of chocolate brown, bronze and maroon. Don't let all this beauty fool you, though; it is as tough as it is gorgeous, and can even withstand light foot traffic. In spring, 4-inch stalks begin sprouting up out of the foliage, bursting with clusters of purple-blue flowers. These blooms attract all sorts of butterflies and hummingbirds, so keep your binoculars handy! Maturing to heights of just 4-6 inches with a 6-12 inch spread, Chocolate Chip Ajuga is perfect when growing under shade trees, between stone pavers on a path, on a rocky slope, or just about anywhere you'd want a blanket of rich color and texture. This plant grows fast, so you won't have to wait long to see it fill in, forming a vibrant multi-hued carpet. Chocolate Chip Ajuga's attractive groundcover acts as a natural weed deterrent, too. Even the deer leave it alone! Thriving in Growing Zones 4-9, this beautiful plant is very cold-hardy and grows just about anywhere. It is adaptable to most soil types, too.
