Chix Out @ Midnight

Diptych | Acrylic on Canvas 48" x 36" | 2025 Artist: J-Bone A powerful, large-scale diptych that pulses with color, courage, and quiet rebellion. Two women stand face-to-face in an electric moment of intimacy—their profiles nearly touching, lips parted, eyes locked in silent recognition. Rendered in a bold graphic style that fuses pop-art energy with traditional geometric patterning, the painting explodes across the canvas in saturated reds, golden yellows, crisp whites, deep blacks, and flowing sky blues. The figure on the left wears a striking hijab of fiery red and black, alive with intricate white geometric motifs—sharp lines, nested squares, and tribal-inspired symbols that speak of ancestral strength and unapologetic identity. Her counterpart on the right is draped in sweeping layers of white and cool blue, her head covering rippling like water, accented by a single bold gold earring that catches the light. Their faces are stylized yet deeply expressive: high-contrast planes of yellow, red, and black outlined in crisp black, with small red hearts and delicate splatters floating like sparks of joy and defiance across skin and fabric. The composition is split down the center, creating a visual tension that mirrors the theme itself—two worlds meeting at midnight. Dynamic red-and-black stripes surge on the left; a luminous yellow field and soft blue wash dominate the right. Tiny red hearts and paint splatters dance across the surface, symbols of love that refuses to stay hidden. Created as an unapologetic celebration and act of solidarity with Muslim lesbians—an underrepresented, often silenced, and persecuted community—"Chix Out @ Midnight" transforms personal intimacy into public power. The title itself evokes those clandestine hours when hidden lives step forward, when love becomes visible, and when silence is finally broken. Visually commanding and emotionally resonant, this original artwork speaks to collectors who value contemporary pieces that blend cultural heritage, social commentary, and fearless beauty. It commands attention in any space—living room, gallery wall, or corporate collection—while sparking meaningful conversation about identity, resilience, and the universal right to love openly.
