The CHIPSEN BoT-nLE523 Bluetooth module is a cost-effective, low-power, true system-on-chip (SoC) for Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth low energy) applications. Integrating the BoT-nLE523 into your design enables robust BLE master and slave nodes to be built with very low total bill-of-material costs while greatly simplifying and streamlining the design and certification process. BoT-nLE523 combines an excellent RF transceiver with an industry-standard enhanced Cortec-M4 CPU, in-system programmable 512 kB flash memory, 128kB RAM, and many other powerful supporting features and peripherals. The BoT-nLE523 is suitable for systems where very low power consumption is required. Very low-power sleep modes are available. Short transition times between operating modes further enable low power consumption. BoT-nLE523 Features BT Version: Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) V5 .3 Built in Antenna Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth Low Energy) Module ARM® Cortex® M4 32 bit processor with FPU, 64 MHz Memory: 512 kB Flash / 128 kB RAM RF Output Power: MAX + 7 dBm ( 20 ~ 7 dBm) RF Receive Sensitivity: -93.5 dBm w/ Dirty Tx enable, 1Mbps Bluetooth Low Energy mode Type 2 near field communication (NFC A) tag with wakeup on field and touch to pair capabilities On chip LDO and DC/DC converter system (Used LDO by Default) Temperature Sensor UART (CTS/RTS) with EasyDMA, SPI, and I2C data interfaces 12 Bit 200 ksps ADC with 7 configurable channels with programmable gain Size: 15 mm x 8 mm x 1.8 mm Operating Voltage: 2 7 V to 3. 6V Operating Temperature: -40 to +85℃ RoHS compliant Certifications: SIG, KC (including wireless EMC), FCC, CE, TELEC Applications Computer peripherals and I/O devices Mouse Keyboard Multi-touch trackpad Interactive entertainment devices Remote control Gaming controller Beacons Personal Area Networks Health/fitness sensors and monitoring devices Medical devices Key-fobs Wrist watches Remote control toys RF Certification Fee Exemption If you create a wireless product using an uncertified module, you must obtain your own wireless certification. The BoT-nLE523 already has multiple certifications (SIG, KC (including wireless EMC), FCC, CE and TELEC), reducing the cost and certification process of manufacturing your wireless products. Uncertified Bluetooth Module BoT-nLE523 Complex authorization process KC+EMC, FCC, CE & TELEC certified Wireless RF certification cost Wireless certification exempt Certification cost by country when exporting Certified in the US, Europe & Japan If authentication fails, replace the entire module Bluetooth logo not available Bluetooth SIG certification completed No technical support during the certification process Certified samples and CHIPSEN technical support Low Power Consumption The table below shows the BoT-nLE523's typical current draw in microamps (uA). Bluetooth Connection Methods BoT-nLE523 1:8 Multicon Mode The BoT-nLE523 can be set to either master mode or slave mode. When operating in Multicon mode, various functions can be performed using AT commands: Communicate individually by selecting only specific Slaves Communicate with all Slaves (up to 8 units) simultaneously Search/auto-connect by specifying the "Name" of a specific Slave Up to 8 Slaves can be registered for convenient use In this configuration the BoT-nLE523 Master will attempt to connect to the BoT-nLE523 Slaves. If each Slave accepts the request, the connection is successful. When communicating between modules there must be a Master and one or more Slaves. Modules operating in the same roles cannot communicate with each other, i.e. two Slaves cannot communication with each other. Smartphones and other Bluetooth Masters to BoT-nLE523 Slave Modules The BoT-nLE523 Slaves will advertise their device information. They can be searched for by smartphones and other master devices, and and connection attempts are received.
