The primary pharmacological effects of these, and related flavonoids, include protection against free radical damage, inflammation modulating, neuroprotective, and immune system support. Studies have shown baicalin strengthening our body’s natural defenses against harmful invaders by interfering with the interactions of cell envelope proteins. Additional effects studied with promising results include increasing blood circulation, reducing the rate of mutation in cells, calming the nervous system, protecting chondrocytes, and memory-enhancing. Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, PhD, and Dr. Judy Mikovits, PhD, believe retroviruses may be the driving force behind symptoms of many chronic illnesses. BioPure’s new Skullcap tincture, derived from the roots of Scutellaria baicalensis, was formulated with this approach in mind. The Certified Organic tincture is made in a 1:5 base of sugarcane ethanol and purified water.
