Vintage Soapstone Heart Shaped Ruyi Scepter

Chinese Jade Ruyi Scepter, is a beautiful and meaningful vintage decorative object. A ceremonial scepter in Chinese Buddhism or a talisman symbolizing power and good fortune in Chinese folklore.  Ruyi is a homophone Chinese for "as you wish or as you desire". The gift of a Ruyi Septor would convey wishes for good luck or congratulations often on a special birthday or significant promotions. A traditional ruyi has a long S-shaped handle and a head fashioned like a fist, cloud, or lingzhi mushroom. ORIGIN: China DIMENSIONS: 3.5” L x 2” W x 1.5” H MATERIALS: Jade FACTS & HISTORY: A Ruyi/Lotus scepter is also the emblem of He Xiangu, one of the Eight Daoist immortals. The Yang (female principle) character of the Ruyi is often indicated by its similarity to the Lingzhi fungus and to Clouds. During the Qing dynasty it was customary for the Emperor to present deserving generals, nobles and ministers of state with gifts of jade Ruyi scepters as a mark of favor.
