China Seas Fabric: Bunga Print - Custom Black Multi on 100% Cotton Sateen

Bunga Print — Custom Black Multi Bunga is Malay for flower, and that’s where the politeness ends. This is China Seas at full volume — oversized blooms in saffron yellow and white cracking open against a black ground, with the fine vein-work of traditional batik running through the whole composition like a reminder of where it came from. Batik is a wax-resist process that has been practiced across the Indonesian archipelago for at least a thousand years, and the characteristic crackle lines that Western decorators find so charming are technically a flaw — places where the wax broke and dye seeped through. The Javanese turned the flaw into a feature. China Seas turned the feature into a legend. This is one of those patterns that people either build an entire room around or walk past without stopping, and there is no version of the story where anyone is neutral. Eleven yards at outlet price, 54” wide with a 35” repeat on 100% cotton handprinted in the USA.  Enough for a pair of curtains that will make everything else in the room audition for the right to stay, or a set of dining chairs that turn Tuesday night into an occasion. The black ground means it eats light — which sounds like a warning, and is actually a promise..  SKU: 42C-30M Color: Custom Black Multi (Lots 8925 D) Width: 54" Repeat: 35" Content: 100% Cotton Origin: Handprinted in the USA on ground woven in the USA   Cotton Sateen has a high thread count and is durable, smooth, with a subtle sheen.
