ChiaoGoo QUADS Interchangeable Needle Tips 5" – Square Stainless Steel Knitting Needles, Sizes US 3–8 (3.25–5.0 mm)

ChiaoGoo QUADS 5" interchangeable needle tips bring a completely different feel to stainless steel knitting needles. Their innovative square profile combines flat sides with softly rounded corners, giving your fingers a more stable, comfortable grip while preserving the smooth stitch glide ChiaoGoo knitters love. If you enjoy metal needles but want more control in your hands—especially with silk, cashmere, fine merino, viscose, and other smooth luxury yarns—QUADS offer a genuinely interesting alternative to traditional round needles. Unlike some square knitting needles that can affect gauge, ChiaoGoo QUADS are purposefully calibrated to produce the same gauge as comparable round needles. There is no need to automatically size up simply because you're switching to a square profile. And if you already use the ChiaoGoo interchangeable system, QUADS work with compatible ChiaoGoo [S] and [L] cables, allowing you to experience a different needle shape without investing in an entirely new system. ▣ Product Specifications • Brand: ChiaoGoo • Line: QUADS • Type: Interchangeable Knitting Needle Tips • Material: Surgical stainless steel • Shape: Square profile with flat sides and softly rounded corners • Tips & Joins: Precisely machined for smooth, snag-free transitions • Tip Length: 5" / 13 cm • Tips: Lace tips / sharp points • Markings: Size permanently laser-marked on needle • Available Sizes: US 4 / 3.5 mm, US 5 / 3.75 mm, US 6 / 4.0 mm • Compatibility: Compatible with ChiaoGoo Small [S]  • Recommended Accessory: ChiaoGoo swivel adapters for comfortable knitting • Condition: New, original retail packaging ▣ What Makes ChiaoGoo QUADS Different? QUADS aren't simply square needles created for appearance. The square construction changes the way the needle sits in your hand. With a traditional round metal needle, your fingers grip a completely curved surface. QUADS give your fingers flat surfaces to rest against, creating additional contact and stability. This can reduce the need to grip the needles as tightly and may make knitting feel more controlled and comfortable, particularly during longer knitting sessions. The corners are softly rounded rather than sharp, so the needles remain comfortable in the hand. At the same time, the surgical stainless steel surface allows stitches to glide smoothly along the needle. The result is what makes QUADS so interesting: greater control in your hands without sacrificing the smooth stitch movement of stainless steel needles. ▣ Why Knitters May Love ChiaoGoo QUADS • Flat sides provide a stable surface for your fingers • Softly rounded corners for comfortable handling • Square profile offers greater grip and control • May reduce the need to hold the needles as tightly • Smooth surgical stainless steel allows stitches to glide easily • Sharp lace tips provide excellent precision • Particularly interesting for smooth and slippery yarns • Calibrated to match the gauge of comparable round needles • No need to automatically size up when switching to QUADS • Compatible with the established ChiaoGoo interchangeable cable system For knitters who love the speed and smoothness of metal needles but sometimes find completely round stainless steel needles a little too slippery, QUADS offer an appealing balance: the stitches move freely while your hands have more control over the needles themselves. ▣ Excellent for Fine & Luxury Yarns QUADS are particularly interesting for working with smooth fibers such as silk, cashmere/silk blends, fine merino, viscose, and other luxury yarns. The stainless steel surface allows delicate stitches to move smoothly, while the square profile provides additional stability in the hand. The sharp lace tips make it easier to enter small or tight stitches and work increases, decreases, cables, lace, and detailed stitch patterns with precision. They can also be an excellent choice for multi-strand knitting, where controlling several fine strands while maintaining consistent stitch movement is especially important. ▣ Same Gauge as Round Needles One of the most important features of ChiaoGoo QUADS is their special calibration. Some square knitting needles can produce a different gauge from round needles with the same labeled size, which is why knitters may sometimes be advised to automatically size up when switching to square needles. ChiaoGoo purposefully calibrated QUADS to obtain the same gauge as comparable round needles. For example, if your pattern calls for: • US 6 / 4.0 mm you can begin with: • US 6 / 4.0 mm QUADS rather than automatically moving to US 7 simply because the needle has a square profile. Individual knitting tension always varies, so I still recommend making a gauge swatch whenever the finished measurements of your project are important. ▣ Recommended Uses Perfect for: • Sweaters and cardigans • Lace knitting • Fine and luxury yarns • Silk and silk-blend yarns • Cashmere and cashmere-blend yarns • Fine merino and viscose • Multi-strand knitting • Cables and textured stitches • Increases, decreases, and detailed stitch patterns • Projects knitted flat or in the round • Knitters looking for additional grip and control ▣ Cable Compatibility The 5" QUADS interchangeable tips are designed for use with compatible ChiaoGoo interchangeable cables with Small [S] or Large [L] joins, depending on needle size. For knitters who already own ChiaoGoo interchangeable needles, this is an important advantage. QUADS are not a completely separate needle system. You can add QUADS tips to your existing collection and continue using your compatible ChiaoGoo cables. ChiaoGoo also recommends using its newer swivel adapters with QUADS for a comfortable knitting setup. ▣ Why I Chose QUADS for iDOKNiT I chose QUADS because they offer something genuinely different rather than simply another version of a standard stainless steel needle. You still get the smooth surface, precise lace tips, and dependable interchangeable system ChiaoGoo is known for, but the square profile gives your fingers a more stable surface and changes the way you control the needle. I especially like the concept for the fine merino, silk, cashmere, cashmere/silk, and other luxury yarns I carry at iDOKNiT. These fibers can be exceptionally smooth, and having more control over the needles while allowing the stitches themselves to glide freely can make knitting much more enjoyable. For knitters who already use ChiaoGoo, QUADS are also an easy way to try a completely different needle shape without purchasing an entirely new interchangeable system or automatically changing your usual needle size.
