These little round tomatoes are juicy, sweet, and have thin skins. Cherry tomato is great for hollowing out and stuffing. Cherry tomato is available year-round. Cherry tomatoes should not be stored with high ethylene-producing products to extend shelf life. Cherry tomato produces a moderate amount of ethylene. Cherry tomato is sensitive to chilling injury at storage below 55°F (13°C). Symptoms include pitting, nonuniform ripening, loss in flavor, and storage decay. As cherry tomato ripens, it becomes less sensitive to chilling injury.
