Soak the planks in water for at least 1 to 2 hours before use to help prevent burning and allow slow smoke release during cooking. Can I reuse the planks? They are typically intended for single use. If a plank remains intact and lightly charred, it may be reused for sturdier foods, but inspect carefully before reuse. What types of food work best with cedar planks? Salmon is the classic choice, but these planks also work well with shrimp, scallops, chicken, pork, mushrooms, and firm fruits like pineapple or peaches. Can I use these on a gas grill? Yes. They are compatible with gas, charcoal, and pellet grills. Place the soaked plank over preheated grates. Do the planks catch fire? When properly soaked, the planks should smolder and produce smoke rather than ignite. Always monitor your grill and avoid leaving it unattended.
