Gentiane Liqueur des Peres Chatreux

About Chartreuse Gentiane Liqueur Chartreuse Gentiane Liqueur is a unique spirit that weaves a rich tapestry of history and craftsmanship. It was born in the ancient monastic traditions of the Chartreuse monks in France, a community known for their excellence in distillation. The liqueur embodies the sublime fusion of over 130 botanicals, with Gentiane (Gentian) being its distinct ingredient - a root herbal with a robust, bitter profile. What sets Chartreuse Gentiane Liqueur apart is not only its bright yellow hue but also its blend technique, which is a closely guarded secret known only to two monks at a time. A purchase of this liqueur isn't just an addition to your spirits collection, but a piece of history and a testament to centuries-old distillation practices. Tasting Notes Nose: Upon the first aroma, you are greeted with an invigorating scent of alpine herbs, swirling with notes of anise and a whisper of berry undertones. Mouthfeel: The experience on the palate is pleasantly complex. The initial sweetness gives way to an assertive bitterness, characteristic of the gentian root, which mingles harmoniously with hints of anise, peppermint and a touch of earthiness. Aftertaste: The aftertaste is a long-lasting, cool bitterness, fading slowly to leave a lingering spicy warmth and a mossy finish that invites another sip. The brightness and intensity make a fascinating tasting journey. Suggested Serves Gentiane Collins: This refreshing cocktail lets the Chartreuse Gentiane Liqueur shine. Mixed with gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and topped off with soda water, the complex bitterness of the liqueur perfectly balances the citrus undertones. Gentiane Negroni: Substituting traditional Campari, the gentian bitterness elevates this classic cocktail to new dimensions, pairing beautifully with the sweet vermouth and gin. Production Notes Chartreuse Gentiane Liqueur is crafted through a meticulous process. The gentian root and other botanicals are macerated in a neutral spirit base and then distilled. Following this, the result is aged in oak barrels for several years which adds depth and smoothness. The clear distillate is then naturally coloured to its signature yellow, using a secret blend of botanicals. Harvesting of the ingredients to the final bottling, every step happens in the monastery, maintaining the historical essence of the beverage. Chartreuse Gentiane Liqueur is undoubtedly a genuine artisanal labor of love. 700ml & 45.4 Proof
