Donations To North Side High School

Our Why Gayle Hill's family's roots run deep on Fort Worth's North Side, with generations connected to North Side High School (NSHS) and the community that helped shape them. Supporting North Side students, teachers, and classrooms is a cause that is deeply personal and close to her heart. We invite you to join us in giving back by helping stock NSHS teachers' classrooms with the resources they need to inspire the next generation.   With your generous donation, you can make a direct impact on the classrooms of North Side High School. On average, teachers spend nearly $1,000 or more of their own money each year to purchase essential classroom supplies and resources. Your support helps ease that burden, ensuring they have the tools they need to educate, inspire, and empower their students.    Pro Tip: Want to give more than $5? Simply increase the quantity to amplify your support for North Side High School.   History Details: For over a century, the Fort Worth Stockyards have welcomed people from every corner of the world. Maverick Fine Western Wear and The General Store & Trading Post stand at the heart of that tradition—and our roots on the North Side begin with a family that arrived with almost nothing and gave a great deal. Early in the last century, Ignacio Cuilty and his wife, Carolina “Nina” Muñoz Cuilty, fled the Mexican Revolution with their two young daughters and settled among the immigrants—many of them Hispanic—who built their lives around the Stockyards. Ignacio opened a pharmacy on North Main and raised his family on the North Side, where the Cuiltys and the Murrins first came to know one another. Ignacio’s life was cut short; he was assaulted during a robbery and died at forty-nine, leaving his family without his income. His daughters were remarkable girls, both graduating a year early from North Side High as members of the National Honor Society and school leaders. Lia—Art Club, Poetry Club, class Parliamentarian—became a painter of the celebrated Fort Worth Circle. Caroline was salutatorian and won a full scholarship to the University of Texas. She could never take it. The scholarship covered tuition, but with her father’s income gone there was nothing for room and board in Austin. So Caroline stayed home, trained as a secretary, and went to work to hold her family together. In 1935 she married Steve Murrin, Sr. Their son, Steve Murrin, Jr., devoted his life to the North Side and the preservation of the Fort Worth Stockyards. With Gayle Hill, he raised three children—Philip, Lou, and Stephen III—Caroline Cuilty’s grandchildren, who carry that commitment to the community forward today. That is why this appeal matters to our family. Gayle and the Murrins are proud to support the North Side High Legacy Foundation, a volunteer-run Texas nonprofit that funds scholarships and classroom opportunities for North Side High students. It exists to close the very gap that once stood between Caroline and Austin. When you shop with us, you are part of this community’s story. Please consider making a donation, so the next bright student of the North Side can go where her talent should take her.
