Coral Beauty Dwarf Angelfish - Tonga

Centropyge bispinous Centropyge angels are favorites with hobbyists due to their small adult size, vibrant coloration, and hardy nature. The Coral Beauty Angelfish is one of the most popular dwarf angelfish in the aquarium trade, admired for its deep purple body contrasted by bright orange flanks and fins. Like other dwarf angelfish, they can show aggression toward other angelfish or similarly shaped fish, especially in smaller systems, so careful tankmate selection is important. Coral Beauty Angelfish are generally excellent feeders and will readily accept a wide variety of prepared foods. A varied diet offered at least twice daily is recommended. In the wild, they feed on filamentous algae, sponges, tunicates, and other benthic organisms, so diets containing marine algae and sponge material are ideal. While considered one of the more reef-compatible dwarf angels, their natural feeding behavior includes occasional coral nipping, meaning they are reef safe with caution. Centropyge bispinous typically grows to about 4 inches in length and is best suited for aquariums of 50 gallons or larger with plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter. This species is widely distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific, where it inhabits coral-rich lagoon and outer reef environments, usually found among rockwork and reef slopes at depths of up to approximately 60 meters.
