Celery Seed, Ground

Ground celery seed is commonly used as a spice to enhance the flavor of soups, salads, dressings, marinades, and pickling mixtures. It has a strong, earthy taste similar to raw celery and adds depth to various dishes. It can be used to make herbal teas, offering a mild diuretic effect, which may aid in detoxification and the elimination of excess fluid in the body, and supporting digestion. Ground celery seed is used in traditional remedies, often incorporated into treatments for conditions like gout, arthritis, and muscle pain. Celery seed contains compounds like apigenin, which have been studied for their ability to reduce inflammation, particularly in conditions like arthritis. The seeds contain antioxidants that help neutralize harmful free radicals, potentially protecting cells from oxidative stress and promoting overall health. Ground celery seed may stimulate digestion and relieve bloating, gas, and indigestion due to its diuretic and carminative properties.  Some studies suggest celery seed may help lower blood pressure by acting as a natural vasodilator and improving circulation.
