Ceanothus Dark Star (California Lilac)

Dark Star California Lilac is a compact evergreen shrub celebrated for its deep indigo flowers and refined mounding form. This Ceanothus cultivar develops dense foliage and abundant spring blooms that create dramatic color contrast in garden settings. Highly attractive to native bees and butterflies, it serves as an excellent pollinator plant while offering ornamental sophistication. Exceptionally drought-tolerant and fire-resistant once established, it thrives in full sun with minimal water and poor to moderate soil conditions. Hardy, disease-resistant, and virtually maintenance-free, this California native requires little pruning or fertilization. An ideal choice for water-wise and fire-adapted landscapes, Dark Star combines outstanding visual appeal with ecological value, supporting regional ecosystems while reducing environmental impact and garden maintenance demands.
