Casey’s Mullet – FlySmithFlies

Casey’s Mullet is a meticulously detailed mullet imitation designed for anglers who need a lifelike baitfish pattern that swims, pushes water, and holds its profile in any condition. Built by FlySmithFlies on an Ahrex SA280 1/0 hook, this fly blends long synthetic fibers with sparse flash and a tapered silhouette to create a natural swimming motion on every strip. Each colorway is layered for realism, giving the fly a translucent, scaled appearance that closely matches finger mullet and juvenile baitfish common throughout Gulf and Atlantic marsh systems. The four-inch body length offers a substantial target without being oversized, making it ideal for redfish, speckled trout, snook, jacks, and any predator that keys in on mullet. Weighted eyes keep the fly balanced and riding correctly, while the synthetic construction sheds water quickly for effortless casting. Whether you’re sliding it across shallow flats, feeding it along a jetty seam, or working it around bait pods, Casey’s Mullet maintains its shape and movement even after multiple fish. Why It Produces • Realistic mullet profile with natural taper • Balanced with weighted eyes for consistent tracking • Synthetic fibers create long, fluid swimming movement • Premium Ahrex SA280 1/0 saltwater hook • Designed and tied by Casey of FlySmithFlies • Perfect four-inch length for finger mullet season Best Applications This pattern excels in clear to lightly stained water where predatory fish are feeding on mullet schools.
