A Soft Toe on a Welt Most soft-toe boots are built cheap, on the assumption that anyone who doesn't need a safety toe doesn't need a boot that lasts. The CA3602 is the opposite: a stitched welt, a waterproof membrane, and an EH rating, with no toe cap to add weight or crowd your toes. If nothing is falling on your feet, this is the Gruntz to buy. What the 8" Shaft Buys You Lateral ankle support, and a barrier against mud, gravel, and sparks. It costs you flexibility and a little heat. On broken ground or in a trench, the taller shaft earns its keep. Why Choose the CA3602? Waterproof, EH rated, resoleable, and light — for wet work where nothing is falling on your feet. Similar Styles to Consider Need a safety toe at the same height? The CA3603 is the 8" composite toe. Prefer a 6" soft toe? The CA3093. Browse the full Carolina range at Overlook Boots. Frequently Asked Questions Does the CA3602 have a safety toe? No. It's a soft-toe boot with no protective toe cap, so it does not meet ASTM F2413 impact and compression requirements. The CA3603 is the composite-toe version at the same height. Is the CA3602 true to size? Carolina generally runs true to size — order the size you wear in sneakers, unlike Red Wing or Thorogood, which tend to run large. If you're between widths, take the wider one. Can it be resoled? Yes. Welt construction stitches the outsole to the upper rather than bonding it.
