Carnival Quilt Pattern

Bring bold energy and striking movement to your next project with the Carnival quilt pattern by Gudrun Erla. Originally featured in the now out-of-print book Big Blocks, Big Style, this updated version includes Stripology® techniques for faster, more accurate cutting and piecing. Carnival features large, dramatic blocks that create a stunning starburst effect, framed with sashing that adds structure and visual contrast. The design is perfect for showcasing a variety of fabrics—mix fat quarters and fat eighths to create a vibrant, scrappy look or choose a more coordinated palette for a bold, modern finish. With its combination of half-square triangles, flying geese, and simple strip piecing, this pattern offers a satisfying quilting experience while delivering impressive results. The pattern includes instructions for three sizes: Lap, Twin, and Queen—ideal for everything from throws to bed quilts.
